It began in 1967 when my grandfather Manuel Estrella started Estrella Gas from his home office in Vineyard Haven.  His friends called him Manny and he was known throughout the Island as an honest, helpful and hardworking man. He would often be found performing service calls on a weekend with his wife Louise in the passenger seat and a grandchild in the middle.

My Father Clifford joined him in business in 1969 when he graduated from high school. Cliff began to learn the propane business and develop those same relationships with customers that his father had created. Cliff and his brothers could be seen across the island delivering cylinder tanks to customers. The propane industry began to evolve to bulk delivery system so Manny decided to sell the business in 1984 to a large propane company. Cliff took a position as the general manager of that new company where he could further his experience in the propane industry.  

Five years later Cliff decided to start his own propane company and Vineyard Propane was born in 1989. Due to the many relationships he had built over the years the business grew quickly.  I began working part time while in high school and college and when I graduated from college in 1996 I decided to join my father in the family business. Like my father and grandfather I had to take on many different rolls within the business which allowed me to  aquire a broad knolwedge of the industry.  In 1999 Cliff decided to sell to a large company once again.  Over the next 20 years my Dad and I worked side by side for that company growing the business like it was our own.  During that time we witnessed many changes in ownership and within the propane industry itself.  This allowed us to gain valuable knowledge and experience.  In 2020 I decided it was time to carry on the Estrella family legacy and I created Star Propane.  Come join our family today!
